Laura Boss Poetry Foundation
Laura Boss was Michelle’s poetry mentor. She died in April 2021. This foundation continues her work by publishing her poetry journal, Lips and running an annual narrative poetry book contest. The Foundation supports Laura’s ideals by offering free submissions to Lips and a poetry contest fee waiver for anyone who needs it.
Brian Flynn Memorial Fund for Social Justice Lawyering
Brian was Michelle’s best friend. He died in November, 2020. This fund continues his work by enabling law students to spend a semester doing public interest work at legal services programs.
Shannen’s Dream
This campaign of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society and works to achieve educational equity for First Nations children in Canada. Shannen Koostachin, the teenage education activist from Attawapiskat whom this fund memorializes, is discussed in a passage of Michelle’s forthcoming novel, Ring, represented by Veronica Goldstein at Fletcher and Company literary agency.
